Porcelain Mugs and Tablewares
Porcelain was discovered in China and brought to Europe by Marco Polo and ever since porcelain has been loved by the Europeans for centuries. The Europeans were so obsessed with porcelain that they import large quantities from China and its only about 300 years after Marco Polo that Europeans learnt how to produce porcelain tableware.
Porcelain table wares are usually white or off-white in colour with a little translucency when making the wares thin. The white colour is the result of kaolin clay that plays a major part in porcelain. Not only its providing the whiteness to the wares but its plasticity also strengthen the wares when its full vitrified. Without glaze. porcelain products can be rather smooth and already impermeable. Usually a glossy transparent glaze is used to enhance its unique brightness, whiteness and translucency.
